State and county authorities descended on a Laredo adult day care Wednesday morning as the patrons calmly played loteria inside the main hall.
The Texas Attorney General’s Office and Webb County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office executed a search warrant at Las Flores Adult Day Care, 2502 E. Travis St., in connection with a Medicaid fraud investigation. Medicaid provides health coverage to eligible low-income adults and the elderly.
Authorities said they searched the adult day care for personal property, Medicaid-related patient/client files, Medicaid billing documents, records and evidence of Medicaid fraud. According to the search warrant, an employee was allegedly submitting fraudulent timesheets.
