Adult diapers are delivered to a resident who doesn’t need and didn’t order them. A man says he needs your benefit card and PIN number for your free phone. A flyer on your car windshield offers a free pedicure if you bring a child with Medicaid coverage in for services. These types of scenarios have occurred in Texas and constitute fraud.
Fraud, waste and abuse in government programs cost Texas taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars each year. Much of it can be stopped if people learn how to recognize it and report it.
