AUSTIN – The company that won a massive no-bid state contract now embroiled in scandal has decided to launch an aggressive campaign to defend its reputation and other business deals.
Austin technology firm 21CT has hired an all-star cast of lobbyists and communicators since its $110 million contract with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission was canceled last month, including Ray Sullivan, a former spokesman for Govs. George W. Bush and Rick Perry; Demetrius McDaniel, a former top aide to ex-Agriculture Commissioner Jim Hightower; and Mike Rosen, a former communications director for Republican U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul.
