Conn. dentists file application to create 6 dental surgery centers in state

Two Connecticut dentists have filed an application with the state seeking to create for-profit dental ambulatory surgical centers in six cities.

Dr. Gregory Mokotoff, the chief of dentistry at Bridgeport Hospital, and Dr. David Barton, a dentist anesthesiologist with a mobile practice called Coastal Sedation Specialists, filed a Certificate of Need application with the state Office of Health Strategy (OHS) to create dental sedation centers in six cities across Connecticut.

The application, filed on June 10, states that each “single-specialty” dental ambulatory surgical center (ASC) will be a joint venture between Catamount Health and local providers that include dentists and anesthesia providers.

The application notes that Catamount Health is a “future name” of the organization, which will do business in the state as Dental Sedation Center of Connecticut. As of Thursday, neither business name had been registered with the state, according to the state’s business name website.
