Delta Dental of California was recently affected by a data breach on the MOVEit file transfer software.
Progress, which provides the MOVEit software, disclosed the vulnerability on its software May 31. The attack on MOVEit affected an estimated 2,500 organizations worldwide.
Delta Dental of California learned of the attack June 1, according to a notice posted on its website. The insurance company said it then applied patches to the software and started an investigation into the incident. On July 6, that investigation found that information had been acquired without authorization.
Delta Dental of California submitted the data breach to the Department of Health and Human Services Sept. 5. The submission states that 500 people were affected by the data breach.
