Dental chain to pay $1.36 million to settle Medicaid probe

An Illinois-based chain of dental clinics has agreed to pay nearly $1.36 million to resolve claims that it improperly billed Massachusetts’ Medicaid program for unnecessary and unjustified procedures.

The settlement with Dental Dreams LLC, a privately held company that operates dental clinics in 11 states, was announced on Tuesday by Acting U.S. Attorney William Weinreb in Boston and will resolve a 2014 whistleblower lawsuit.
