Jack Stick, one of the elite health officials and former chief counsel for Texas Health and Human Services resigned Friday. This development took place because Stick had awarded $110 million contract to the Austin tech company 21CT in a no-bid contract. Officials latter concluded that that the contract was unfairly awarded and as a result the agency also terminated the contracts.
Stick defended his decision by claiming that the hired company offered a better product as compared to rivals and he followed all the rules in awarding the contract.
