Gov. Rick Perry has appointed David Tillman of Aledo and Jason Zimmerman of Keller to the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. The board oversees licensing and regulation of dental care providers in Texas, and enforces Texas laws regulating the practice of dentistry.
Tillman is a general dentist in private practice in Fort Worth. He is a fellow of the American and International colleges of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy and International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is Region 18 director for the Academy of General Dentistry, a member of the Texas Dental Association Council on Ethics and Judicial Affairs, and president elect of the Fort Worth District Dental Society. He is a member of Aledo Independent School District Board of Trustees, a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Birchman Baptist Church, and a volunteer for the American Dental Association Give Kids a Smile Program, Texas Dental Association Save a Smile Program, John Peter Smith Dental Clinic and Texas Mission of Mercy, and a past volunteer dental missionary in Benin. Tillman received a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from The University of Texas Dental School at Houston, and completed a general practice residency at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. He is appointed to the board for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015.
Zimmerman is owner of Children’s Dental Services of Texas. He is a member and co-chair of the Texas Dental Association Access to Care Medicaid CHIP Committee, and a member and board member of the Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is the District V representative of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Council on Government Affairs, a member and past president of the Fort Worth Pediatric Society and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Fort Worth District Dental Society and American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a board member of Cook Children’s Oral Health Coalition and a volunteer for Christina’s Smile Children’s Dental Clinic. Zimmerman received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University (TAMU), a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the TAMU Baylor College of Dentistry and a master’s degree in pediatric dentistry from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He is appointed to the board for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017.
