Idaho nurse practitioner pleads guilty to $6 million healthcare fraud conspiracy

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A Nurse Practitioner in Idaho has pled guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud totaling more than $6 million.

According to court documents, Kristen Bolling, 40, was charged with conspiring to commit healthcare fraud. Bolling accepted pre-filled medical orders from companies, signed the orders without seeing the patients or making a medically necessary determination and returned the signed orders to the companies in exchange for compensation.

Bolling was licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and Washington.

Steven Ryan, the Special Agent in Charge at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, said after the guilty plea, “By engaging in kickback arrangements, this defendant knowingly put personal profit before legitimate patient needs. This illegal behavior undermines the integrity of federal healthcare programs and costs taxpayers millions of dollars.”
