SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — (1/03/2018) What used to be one of the busiest dental offices in Mt. Vernon is now little more than ashes, as the building was burned almost to a crisp in a fire that officials are now labeling as suspicious.
The owner of the office, Dr. Thomas Alms, is currently facing three counts of Medicaid fraud. Those charges were filed against him back in August by Attorney General Josh Hawley, after he alleged that Alms billed people for services he didn’t actually provide. The fire chief did not say whether or not they think this fire is directly related to that case, however, it does remain under investigation.
