A Mt. Vernon dentist is again facing allegations that he defrauded Medicaid, following charges filed by the office of Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley last week.
Dr. Thomas Alms is maintaining his innocence, and his attorney, Roger Jones, said that the last time he was accused of defrauding Medicaid, no charges were filed. Jones said that the allegations stem from past transactions.
A civil case had been filed in 2011 by then-Attorney General Chris Koster accusing Alms and his wife, Laura, of Medicaid fraud, but it was dismissed by the Cole County (Jefferson City) Circuit Court in 2013.
