The latest edition of the Texas Health and Human Service Commission’s online newsletter InTouch says that OIG is bringing in an outside firm to review its investigative, sampling and extrapolation processes in light of the recent scathing Sunset Commission staff report on OIG.
No company was named.
Inspector General Doug Wilson is quoted:
“It’s our duty to safeguard taxpayer dollars, and we must do so with clear and fair policies and procedures. It’s important that the public, state leaders and Medicaid providers have confidence in this office so I welcome an outside look at our work and how we can improve it.”
Wilson said the firm will review “the methodology it uses to extrapolate the findings from a sample of cases reviewed to determine the amount of potential overpayments for a provider.”
