McALLEN — One of two men accused of playing roles in a Medicare fraud scheme was sentenced Wednesday, court records show.
U.S. District Judge Micaela Alvarez sentenced Palmview resident Ivar Cantu Maldonado, 47, to a 56-month prison term more than 15 months after him and his co-defendant, Mission resident Omar Solis Sanchez, 37, agreed to plea deals with the government that had them plead true to a healthcare fraud charge. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to dismiss the remaining 17 charges they faced, court records show.
