Public Integrity Unit no longer leading probe into tech contract

Travis County prosecutors are no longer leading a year-long criminal investigation into a controversial state technology deal that led to sweeping contracting reforms and have transferred the case to another law enforcement agency.

Gregg Cox — chief of the Travis County district attorney’s Public Integrity Unit — told the Houston Chronicle that his organization is taking a back seat in the ongoing probe. Cox, who did not return a phone call from the American-Statesman, would not say where the case has been sent.
