A pair of Houston men have been arrested for allegedly running an unlicensed dentistry practice for 20 years, after an investigation into an alleged sexual assault by one of the men led officers to scrutinize the pair’s licensure.
Alberto Alanis Flores and Jose Alfredo Uzeta were both charged for practicing dentistry without a license earlier this week. Flores and Uzeta ran the practice out of a second-story office at 6260 Westpark Drive in southwest Houston, according to court records. The office’s front door did not have a business or the doctors’ names posted, only a sign marked “Private.”
According to ABC 13’s Shelley Chidlers, Uzeta told a judge during his first court appearance Tuesday morning that he was seeing about eight patients a day. Per court records, Uzeta charged $1,000 to $3,000 less for braces than the typical cost at a licensed dentistry.
