Second arrest made in Texas Medicaid fraud re-indictment

A Pharr man who has been entangled in allegations of defrauding Texas Medicaid was arrested again Thursday.

Gerardo Javier Jackson, 51, is charged in an indictment issued Aug. 22 with a single count of Medicaid fraud.

He’s accused, along with 64-year-old Edinburg resident Osama Bachir Nahas, of defrauding Texas Medicaid from Jan. 1, 2011, to Jan. 31, 2012.

The indictment alleges that Jackson conspired with Nahas to defraud Texas Medicaid by helping the Edinburg doctor obtain unauthorized payments from the program by directing his employees to perform physical services when those employees had no formal training or licenses and were not supervised by a doctor or licensed physical therapist.
