Sen. Joan Huffman added her voice to those Texas politicians calling for the resignation of Health and Human Services Commission Executive Commissioner Kyle Janek yesterday per the Houston Chronicle. Huffman wasn’t satisfied with Janek’s answers nor his demeanor while answering questions before the Senate Finance Committee.
Huffman is quoted as saying: “There were so many important issues that we should have been talking about today, and this should not have been one of them. It clearly is a very serious distraction. I just don’t think he’s in a position to lead a multi-billion-dollar agency.”
Senators were upset over Janek’s lack of oversight over HHSC with major contracting scandals and incredible perks for his staff.
Janek’s fate lies in the hands of Gov. Greg Abbott who has said he is waiting for the results of investigations into HHSC by various state and federal authorities.
