State Board of Dental Examiners Stakeholders Meeting November 20

The Texas State Board of Dental Examiners will be holding a stakeholders meeting in Austin on November 20.  It will be held at the William P. Hobby Jr. State Office Building, Tower III, Room 100, 333 Guadalupe Street at 1:30 pm.

Its purpose is to allow stakeholder input to the Dental Practice Committee which will be considering the following:

Teledentistry, specifically current applications and issues related to dental practice, and existing provisions of the Dental Practice Act, Board rules, and related provisions of the Texas Occupations Code;
Use of Silver Diamine Fluoride, including appropriate delegation by dentists, risks of application and improper use, and existing provisions of the Dental Practice Act and Board rules; and
Rule 108.12 – Dental Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, specifically to discuss the potential need for clarifying changes regarding a dentist’s ability to refer a patient to sleep centers or sleep studies if obstructive sleep apnea is suspected.
