AUSTIN – Texas officials voiced support Wednesday for a proposal to combine five big state health and human services agencies into a mega-agency so massive that it would have a bigger budget than many states.
The agencies made their support clear and the chairman of the powerful state Senate Finance Committee also offered praise for the plan at a meeting of the state Sunset Advisory Commission, a review panel that first proposed the merger last month.
