McALLEN—A 28-year-old ambulance company owner accused of submitting more than $1 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medicaid was convicted Tuesday after pleading guilty before a federal court judge.
Victor Lee Gonzalez, the owner of Vic’s Texas Transport Inc., also known as Victory EMS, was charged with seven counts of healthcare fraud, aggravated identity theft and other related counts in January 2014.
As part of a plea deal, Gonzalez admitted he submitted claims for reimbursement of ambulance transportation services that were not provided and was convicted of one healthcare fraud count and one identity theft count, according to court documents.
