Texas health agency dismisses protest over $68 million tech contract

The Health and Human Services Commission ruled Monday that it followed state contracting rules when it doled out a $68 million technology deal in September and that it doesn’t have to rebid the job.

Deputy Executive Commissioner Ron Pigott dismissed a protest by CSI Leasing, a national technology company that alleged the procurement process was flawed because the commission didn’t meet newly established timelines and procedures created by the Legislature this year. CSI, which lost its bid for the contract, wanted the state to void the $68 million deal and start over.
