Two former Utah health department officials charged in alleged Medicaid kickback scam

Two former Southwest Utah Public Health Department officers have been charged with conspiring to file false Medicaid claims with the Utah state government following a months-long investigation into the agency’s financial practices.

Todd Alan Stirling, 51, and Russell Ammon Hinton, 38, both Washington City residents, were charged Monday with felony counts of false governmental claims and engaging in a pattern of illegal activity as part of an alleged kickback scheme.

Both men were issued a summons by the Fifth District Court and are scheduled to make initial appearances July 11.
