TxTag problems prompts lawmaker to file bill | KXAN.com

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Rep. Tony Dale, R-Cedar Park, has filed House Bill 3108 relating to the collection of unpaid tolls. KXAN has learned the bill, filed on Wednesday, will hold both the Texas Department of Transportation and its vendor, Xerox, more accountable for wrongly billing customers and sending out multiple bills.

If TxDOT gets a complaint on a fee, the bill states they must resolve it within 20 days or they can not collect. Dale says the point of the bill is to get rid of excessive fees, require timely billing and motivate toll authorities to resolve issues quickly.

Earlier this week, Dale expressed his dissatisfaction with TxDOT telling KXAN his constituents are still being billed incorrectly.
