HICKORY – Several Viewmont Elementary students got a jump start on their dental care after a recent visit by the Gaston Family Health Services mobile dental unit.
Viewmont Principal Jeff Hodakowski said this was the first year his school has participated in the program, with nearly 70 students involved. Along with a check-up, students receive oral health education, preventative care, examinations and treatment. All care was provided at no cost to the patient.
“We were interested in doing this based on the needs of our families,” Hodakowski said. “It’s a nice service to have a bus pull up and take care of these kind of needs.”
