Worcester dentist Anthony DiStefano III indicted on health care fraud charges

A Worcester dentist, his office manager and a Chelmsford dentist are accused of defrauding the Massachusetts Medicaid program, known as MassHealth, federal prosecutors say.

A grand jury in Boston indicted the trio Thursday.

Dr. Anthony DiStefano III, 70, of Worcester, was indicted on one count each of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, health care fraud and tax evasion along with two counts of aggravated identity theft.

Robin Cronin, 58, the office manager, of Worcester, and Dr. Scott Cale, 65, of Chelmsford, were each indicted on a count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and health care fraud.

The three were arrested Thursday morning and were due to appear in federal court in Boston.
